Developmental Skills Curriculum
|
Pineland Learning Center (PLC) has developed a new class that is both specialized and unique. Our -developmental skills class is focused on educating students with intensive learning needs, including Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Down’s syndrome, in a safe and stimulating environment. The main focus of this class is to provide students with an individualized program that meets their educational needs in structured, high-interest learning environments. Our trans-disciplinary staff collaborates in planning personal and group lessons that utilize research-based, Best Practice methodologies and programs, including:
The most exciting part of the class is the opportunity for students to have optimal social interaction. PLC uses its renowned behavior program in tandem with social integration, which is enhanced by PLC’s family dining experience, physical education classes, animal-assisted therapy program and environmental program. The possibilities for social integration and interaction are endless, and we make this a priority when planning for the students. The best part about PLC’s new developmental skills class is the students themselves. We are so inspired by their warmth and progress. We look forward to the bright future of our class!
