Student Activities

Pineland Learning Center offers a full range of activities that enable students to get involved with classmates and safely learn about life outside of the school setting. Some completed and ongoing projects include:
  • Thanksgiving Basket Drive- Staff and students collected and delivered donations of turkeys, canned goods and a variety of Thanksgiving favorites to feed 18 local families on Thanksgiving.
  • Veterans Home activities- Members of Student Council co-ordinate with staff for an ongoing variety of activities, such as joining residents for Coffee Club and providing Bowling Party assistance. Students of various ages visit residents along with the dogs in conjunction with animal-assisted therapy, and share Pineland's students' performances.
  • Students participate in mentoring events with younger classmates as part of learning activities for all involved.
  • Other Service Events- Students assist with set-up for field days' activities, and provide assistance as requested for various service projects and community events, such as Vineland's Arbor Day weekend.
  • Off Campus Learning Trips - all trips are tied directly to curriculum, and include learning activities with pre- and post-assessment. Locations that have been visited recently include the Cleopatra Exhibit at the Franklin Institute, McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, Cumberland Pre-Historical Museum, Vineland Historical Society, Wachovia Center& Wells Fargo Center, SJ Regional Medical Center, Parvin State Park, Cape May Zoo, Cape May Lighthouse (Monarch Migration), and numerous local greenhouses and businesses.
