About Our Nutrition Program

Pineland Learning Center provides wholesome and nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch to all students. Meals are prepared on site in our state-of-the-art kitchen. PLC provides student meals which align to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, using United States Department of Agriculture's meal patterns, reviewed and approved by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.
Students dine family style with staff in a comfortable dining room setting conducive to table conversation and table manners. This environment provides opportunities for social emotional learning and soft skill building compared with a traditional “school cafeteria”.
Through our nutrition program, PLC helps ensure that students are not adversely affected by varying, poor, or absent nutrition, or by the effects of poverty. Poor nutrition is associated with increases in distractibility, impulsivity and restlessness. Our menu incorporates the essential nutrients that are beneficial to improving the brain’s executive functioning, a key determinant in the management of ADHD. Additionally, this balanced meal program helps to combat the growing epidemic of childhood diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.
PLC welcomes parents, guardians, and school district personnel to join students and staff for a visit at mealtimes.
