• Pineland Learning Center provides an appealing, wholesome and nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch to all students.  All food is prepared on site in our state-of-the-art kitchen.  PLC pprovides meals to students that align to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, using United States Department of Agriculture's meal patterns reviewed and approved by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.

Through this program, PLC helps assure that students are not adversely affected by varying, poor or absent nutrition, or by the effects of poverty. Poor nutrition is associated with increases in distractibility, impulsivity and restlessness. The menu incorporates the essential nutrients that are beneficial to improving the brain’s executive functioning, a key determinant in the management of ADHD. Additionally, this balanced meal program helps to combat the growing epidemic of childhood diseases such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease.

Students are exposed to different types of foods, and learn their origins, nutritional value and various types of preparation as part of multicultural exposure. As part of each morning’s announcement, menu descriptions and “menu trivia” serve to expand students’ horizons and increase nutritional knowledge.

The staff dines family style with students in a comfortable dining room setting conducive to table conversation and table manners. This setting provides further opportunity for instruction and accessibility to students outside the classroom when compared to the traditional “school cafeteria” setting.

PLC welcomes parents, guardians and school district personnel to join students and staff for a visit at mealtimes.
